A revitalized the Russian player secured his initial trophy for 882 days with a win over Corentin Moutet in the tournament title decider.

Medvedev, a former world number one, has had a difficult season, managing just a single victory at the Grand Slams and experiencing a difficult moment at the New York tournament.

His inconsistency on the professional circuit - and issues with his serving in especial - resulted in him falling of the elite rankings and finally separating with long-term trainer his previous coach.

Presently collaborating with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, Medvedev has gradually advanced in the last few weeks - climaxing in a hard-fought three-set victory over challenger Corentin Moutet.

This marks his initial championship since the Rome competition and first on a hard court since March of that year.

Success also means Medvedev has secured 21 victories at 21 distinct competitions.

"For the first time I am participating in a competition with my two daughters at once, so to secure a trophy is really nice," said world number 14 Medvedev.

"This championship is in honour of my younger daughter her name, because the initial championship I got when my older daughter Alisa was born was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his previous six title deciders, comprising in that event earlier this year.

His counter-punching approach and recurring emotional displays on the playing surface had led observers to doubt if his capacity to compete at the highest level was concluded.

But the athlete has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, striving to approach the net and compete aggressively, backed up by an enhanced service.

He came back from a disadvantage in the first set against the difficult Moutet, winning four of the concluding five points to gain the advantage.

The pair swapped break points in the middle set before Moutet, attempting for his initial tour title, seized the initiative to create a final set.

The opponent defended 4 early-game break points in a tight final set before the Russian won the break to fifteen to serve for the match.

Fittingly, Medvedev secured victory with a rally at the front of the court, with his opponent unable to manage a shot after over two and a half hours.
